MARKET RABBIT DIVISION

CHECK-IN:  THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2010, 2:00-3:00P.M.

JUDGING:  THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2010, 3:00P.M.

 

  1. This division is subject to all the General Rules of the East Montgomery County Fair.

 

  1. Only meat pens will be shown.  A pen consists of three (3) rabbits, either sex, same breed and variety, not over seventy (70) days old and weight not to exceed five (5) pounds per rabbit with a three (3) ounce tolerance per rabbit. The minimum weight will be three (3) pounds per rabbit with a three (3) ounce tolerance per rabbit.  The first three (3) rabbits and one (1) alternate presented to the sifter/judge will be the meat pen.  The meat pen rabbits will be weighed/sifted prior to the show as per the American Rabbit Breeders Association (A.R.B.A.) rules and the judges discretion.

 

  1. If any rabbits in the meat pen weigh more than the maximum weight, the entire pen is eliminated.

 

  1. Rabbits will be weighed one time only, three (3) rabbits and one (1) alternate if need be, no other substitution will be allowed.

 

  1. Intent to show forms must be submitted to the fair office on Thursday, May 20, 2010 by the exhibitor. NO LATE INTENT TO SHOW FORMS WILL BE ALLOWED.  A $5.00 dollar entry fee is due on the tattoo date.  The exhibitor must own the breeding does.  Exhibitor will need to provide a map to where the rabbits will be raised with the intent to show form on May 20, 2010.

 

  1. The breeding date will be June 8, 2010 (100 days from the show date September 16, 2010).  Only off spring from these does will be eligible for the meat pen rabbit show.

 

  1. The exhibitors, parents/guardian, and/or leader will grant visitation rights to the EMCFA Rabbit Committee prior to the breeding date to record doe’s ear numbers.

 

  1. A follow up Intent To Show Summary  shall be submitted on the tattoo date.  All off spring rabbits intended to be shown will be tattooed with the EMCFA seal.  No EMCFA seal will be tattooed in the rabbits’ right ear unless the permanent ear tag number has been administered in the rabbits left ear by the exhibitor and/or leader.  The exhibitor, parent/guardian, and /or leader must be present during the EMCFA seal tattooing. No late follow up Intent To Show Summaries will be allowed.   The committee will visit within two (2) weeks of the birth of the bunnies for tattooing.  It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to contact the Rabbit Committee Chairman when the bunnies are born.

 

  1. All A.R.B.A. disqualifications and elimination will be applied.

 

  1. Only one (1) meat pen per exhibitor may be entered. 

 

  1. All rabbit pens which make the sale plus the alternate pens will remain at the show grounds.  All other pens will be released after the judging is completed.  All animals not being sold in the premium auction will not be solicited by the exhibitor on the fair grounds.

 

  1. ONLY THE EXHIBITOR IS ALLOWED INSIDE THE RING AND MUST REMAIN ON THE FENCE UNTIL THE RING STEWARD ASKS HIM/HER TO COME FORWARD.  NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE RING.
